Water and a variety of Seeds can be found scattered across the map. Make sure you build up a small collection of both, because without them you won’t be able to grow any Ingredients in a Greenhouse. There’s all kinds of things you can grow, including Bitterroot, Leaping Toadstool and Wormwood - the latter being a great crop to grow, because it’s needed for brewing Healing Potions, and useful for helping you survive the tougher Wizarding Challenges. On this page: Before beginning your wizarding adventure, you’ll want to join a Hogwarts House in Harry Potter Wizards Unite. After that you’ll need to learn how to battle, so you can compete in Wizarding Challenges at Fortresses or how to use Greenhouses, so that you can perform Potion Master Notes. You can also unlock Portkey Portmanteaus and choose a profession from Auror, Magizoologist or Professor. Don’t forget to take part in the monthly Community Day event either! More importantly, however, Greenhouses are where you can grow your own Potion Ingredients from the Seeds and Water you can find while playing Wizards Unite. A little red flag will fly above the Greenhouse once you have collected your Ingredients. It will vanish after five minutes and you’ll be able to collect more Ingredients. Be warned - if your Ingredients Vault is full, then you won’t be able to be able to collect anymore Ingredients from either the map or a Greenhouse. If you do need to make room in your Ingredients Vault, then you can easily delete some spare Ingredients. Like Ingredients, both Seeds and Water appear randomly across the map. Keep your eyes peeled for a little watering can if you are in need of Water. Seeds packets come in two colours - pink and yellow - and are also quite small. Seeds and Water are more likely to spawn near an Inn, Fortress or Greenhouse, so if you are having trouble finding either then try walking to one of these in-game landmarks. Once you’ve opened your Greenhouse of choice, select Growing from the tab at the bottom of the screen. This will take you to the player plant pot. To start planting, press the green Grow button and you’ll be taken to the list of Ingredients you can grow. If you have enough Seeds and Water to grow an Ingredient, then the Grow button next to it will be a copper colour. If you don’t, then it will be grey. Once you have planted an Ingredient, you can use Spell Energy to increase the amount of yield you will receive when it finishes growing. To do this head to a Greenhouse that has an Ingredient growing inside it and open the Growing screen. Above the growing plant, you will find the Spell Energy Bar. This will tell you how much Spell Energy has already been added to the plant, what the yield increases are and whether they have been met for this Ingredient yet. To add Spell Energy press + and then complete the glyph that appears on the screen to perform the Herbivicus spell. As Spell Energy is given to the Ingredient, the Spell Energy Bar will bring to fill and will highlight which yield goals have been reached. It takes up to 50 Spell Energy to max out the yield. You will also find the Timer counting down until the Ingredient is fully grown above the Spell Bar. Like Fortresses and Wizarding Challenges, growing Ingredients is a communal activity. If you come across a Greenhouse that is glowing green, this means that another player has planted an Ingredient inside it. Not only can you add Spell Energy to this plant, but you can also receive some of the Ingredients once it has finished growing. Tapping a glowing Greenhouse from a distance will also bring up the Timer. Bitterroot, for example, is used in any Exstimulo Potion. These Potions improve spell casts in both Traces and Wizarding Challenges. Meanwhile, Leaping Toadstools help create Baruffio’s Brain Elixir, which doubles the Wizarding XP you earn from Traces, Wizarding Challenges and Portkeys for 30 minutes. Wormwood is a main Ingredient in Healing Potions, which will keep you alive during those difficult Wizarding Challenges. Below you’ll find a useful chart that covers all the Ingredients you can grow in the Greenhouses, including how long it takes to grow each one and which Potions they are used for. It’s important to remember that you have to pick up the Ingredients in person. This means you can easily miss out on your own Ingredients if you can’t visit the Greenhouse in time or simply forget.
